sometimes (especially right now) the world can feel so big and scary. i got tired of feeling small, and like no matter what I did it would not be enough. that’s the thing. it isn’t enough. and never can be. you are just one person amongst many, and to put the weight of the world on your shoulders can cause us to feel paralyzed rather than energized to serve others.
here is where you can do one small thing to help others and stay connected to the earth around you. think: current events, donations, tangible resources you can uplift or consume that actually feel and do good.
so read, give, and let me know of anything you think is important and I can add it to the site.

«awareness & action»
Current Events:
the good = positive/insightful news
the bad = news that needs awareness
the action= a place to donate or be helpful
Location: Texas
The GOOD:
The Freedom Colony of Littig
A powerful story that sits at the intersection of history, environmental justice, community preservation, and the question of who gets protected as Austin continues to grow.
When a city has an influx of residents and businesses, it's easy to focus on what's new. Stories like this remind me to pay attention to what has always been here, and who is working to make sure it isn't forgotten.
The BAD:
Pregnant Migrant Minor Girls Face Uncertain Care in Texas
An investigation by PBS NewsHour examines concerns surrounding pregnant migrant girls being housed in a South Texas facility.
Advocates worry that young people facing pregnancy (some of which who were not pregnant to begin with), trauma, and uncertainty may not have consistent access to the specialized care they need.
This story highlights the complex intersection of immigration policy, healthcare, and child welfare, while reminding us that behind every policy debate are real people whose lives are directly affected.
The ACTION: donate
Grassroots Leadership
an Austin-based organization that works to address mass incarceration, immigrant detention, deportation, and prison profiteering through advocacy, research, education, and community organizing.
I've been donating to Grassroots Leadership for the past year because I believe in paying attention to the people and communities who are often overlooked in public conversations. Their work encourages us to think critically about justice, accountability, and what it means to build safer, healthier communities for everyone.
Conscious Consumption
here are some recent books that have helped me stay connected and aware:
WOMEN WHO RUN WITH THE WOLVES
I can’t rave about this book enough. It brought me back to my roots. It taught me of the heroine’s journey. Coming from a life of not having much guidance from women, it helped me understand that womanhood is whatever i define it to be. Brave, and not afraid to be SPOOKY AND SCARY AND RAVENOUS. It is everything you were never told but needed to hear.
BRAIDING SWEETGRASS
This book is the epitome of ‘go touch grass’. In a time where we can feel so small and disconnected it reminds you that it is the small things that actually connect us. The wind, the water, the strawberries. Such a good read!!
